SoPro India(Solar Water Heating for Industrial Processes in India), an initiative implemented by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy(MNRE) and Deutsche Gesellschaft Für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GMBH, has published case studies of some of the most successful Solar Thermal Installations in various industrial applications. The industries include

  • Dairy and Food Processing
  • Chemical/Pharma
  • Automobile
  • Textile
  • Other industries

Two projects executed by Aspiration Energy has been published in SoPro website. Both the case studies pertain to the Automotive Manufacturing industries, and both the projects explain in detail how the end user benefited by way of reduction in fossil fuels usage for heat generation, thereby leading to

  • Energy savings and
  • Significant reduction in local pollution

The case studies can be downloaded here.

About So Pro

Background

GIZ through its Indo-German Energy Programme (IGEN) undertook various measures to promote solar energy uptake in urban and industrial areas. During the process, it was realised that the customers, in general, didn’t have trust in the solar water heating system technology. This is primarily due to the lack of reliable information on how the Solar Water Heating Systems (SWHS) are working, what their costs and benefits are and how much energy and costs can be saved by using SWHS. To fill the knowledge gap on Solar Water Heating Systems for industrial applications, SoPro India project is initiated.

It is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in consultation with Fraunhofer Institute of Solar Energy Systems (ISE), Germany and APITCO, India.

Key Activities include

Step 1) Identifying SWHS installed in industries

Step 2) Preparing case studies

Step 3) Scientific monitoring of SWHS

Step 4) Managing the Marketing portal   www.soproindia.in
